INDUSTRY MOVES
Stripe Buys an AI Company for $1 Billion!

(Source: PYMNTS)
Stripe, the company that helps businesses get paid online, just bought Cognition Labs for $1 billion. Cognition Labs uses AI (which means teaching computers to think smartly) to catch online fraud, like when bad actors try to steal money.
This matters because Stripe moves billions of dollars every year. Stopping even a few bad payments can save them — and you — a lot of money.
Next, Stripe will add these AI tools into its system using something called an API (a hidden bridge that lets apps work together). This means businesses using Stripe will get stronger fraud protection automatically, without having to lift a finger.
Looking at the bigger picture, other fintechs (money tech companies) will probably start buying AI companies too. Smarter, safer, and faster payments are the future.
TECH ADVANCEMENTS
Microsoft’s New AI is Small but Mighty!
Microsoft just launched something called Phi-3, think of it like a new brain, but smaller, cheaper, and faster than the giant ones everyone talks about.
It's like a smart, mini version that can still do amazing things, like writing, thinking, and helping without eating up tons of money and power.
Real-world takeaway:
If you're building apps or tools (especially SaaS businesses), you don’t need to pay for massive, expensive AIs anymore.
You can use these smaller Phi-3 models to create fast, smart products, perfect for smaller businesses, not just giant companies.
Bottom line:
Smaller, faster, and way more affordable AI is here, and it's going to open doors for a LOT more people.
